Club Address

Lower Playing Field, Mayes Lane Danbury Essex CM3 4NJ

The Club was first founded in 1932.  The green was located on Danbury Common opposite the Cricketers Public House and comprised of 3 rinks. We moved to our present location, increasing the number of rinks to 6, at Lower  Field, Mayes Lane in 1977.

We have a mixed membership of full and social members. New members of all bowling levels are welcome to join. If you have never bowled before why not come along to one of our open days held in May and give it a try? We have coaches at the club for instruction and training.

The clubhouse has a licensed bar and a separate building that houses the changing rooms. The bowling green is of county standard. With the help of our green keeper and manager it seems to improve every year.

A range of bowling is provided. These include club afternoons on Monday and Wednesday, with social events and friendly games taking place throughout the season. We enter teams in the Central Midweek league, in the Chelmsford & District league and the Chelmer Ladies Triples league. Intra Club competitions, for players of all levels, are held each year with a presentation lunch at the end of the season. A club tour is also arranged every other year.

During the closed season social events are held at the club.  Friendly matches are arranged at various indoor clubs in the area. We also enter a team in the indoor/outdoor league, held at Jacks Centre Indoor Bowling Club Latchingdon.
